Developments and expansions in the range ensure that consumers remain interested in kiwis. The yellow kiwis have now won the hearts of many consumers, in addition to the familiar green kiwi. In addition, tests are being carried out with so-called red kiwis that should be available to consumers in 2029.
Attention to quality
Back to the current season. Kiwis require a lot of attention to quality control. A large part comes from faraway places, which means that a long boat trip is necessary to get the fruit to the European market. Kiwis can handle such long transport well, but a quality check is recommended. “At Looije Packing, we know exactly what is needed to select the best kiwis and then pack them in the desired packaging. Our team includes many experienced quality specialists who strictly check and sort the products,” says Jesper van den Bosch, Commercial Manager at Looije Packing.
Diversity of packaging
To stimulate the consumer, kiwis are packed in many different types of packaging. Loose on one layer in a box is no longer the standard; from flow packs with and without trays to cardboard sleeves and punnets. “We pack kiwis in any desired packaging. At our five locations, we have the right machines and people, which allows us to completely unburden our customers. Organic packaging is also possible.”
Logistical handling
“In addition to packaging the products, we also take care of the storage and cooling of the kiwis in the right conditions. Kiwis are products that keep well, provided they are stored at the right temperature and humidity. At our locations, we have the space to set up the cold storage in such a way that kiwis can be stored in the ideal conditions before they are transported to their final destination.” Looije Packing takes care of transport and logistical handling in collaboration with loyal partners. In this way, customers are completely unburdened and the supply chain is fully optimized. “At Looije Packing, together with our partners, we are a one-stop-shop for every importer of fruit and vegetables.”
